Over the weekend Nathan and I made our way down to Davenport, CA to go Apple Picking. I have been wanting to go since September but it never worked out, so this weekend I was like no matter what we are going apple picking before all of the orchards close. Sadly by mid October most orchards have closed and are out of u-pick apples, however if you look close enough and are willing to drive a little further you will find an orchard that is still opening.

We found ourselves at Cal Poly's Swanton Pacific Ranch which grows 14 varieties of organic apples and although most varieties had already been harvested there were plenty of Fuji, Pippin, and Granny Smith Apples left to pick. Some of the trees were covered in apples which was so refreshing because I was afraid there would be just a few apples left if any at all. I got so carried away picking apples that my bag was full and I had been filling up Nathan's as well. In the end we picked 10 pounds of apples which is way more that I expected so now I am on the hunt for recipes to use them all up!
