Cooking with Feastly and Made2Gather

Maybe you saw on my Instagram, but over the weekend Nathan and I opted for a day date and took a cooking class with Feastly and Made2Gather. The group class focused on communal cooking with local, sustainable, and organic ingredients. Chef Lee (who is awesome by the way) took us through Israeli Food for the Soul and at the end we truly had a feast. It was really cool learning to cook Israeli food since I have zero experience with it and am always looking for some more meatless dishes to through into the weekly cooking rotation. We made shakshuka which is a vegetable and egg dish with onions, garlic, squash, fennel, tomatoes, and bell peppers. I am not an egg person at all, I can't even eat homemade french toast if it is noticeably egg-y, but it was really good! We also learned to make pita and tahini sauce which is super simple and if you like the flavor of hummus you will like this lighter version too.

If you live in or are visiting San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, or Washington DC then you need to give Feastly a try. Nathan and I have gone for a dinner party as well as a cooking class and they are such unique dining experiences and its cool sitting with a bunch of strangers and getting to know them over a meal. Many meals happen in chef's homes and as a tourist, its a great way to get a local experience outside the list of recommended restaurants you and every other guest at your hotel have been given.
