Launching GS Reads Book Club

Hi guys! Happy New Year! I know it's been a few weeks since I have posted anything but I needed some time to step away from the computer, spend time with family, and recharge for 2017. Seriously, it is amazing how much screen time we all have without realizing it and my eyes and brain felt so much better being cut off.

So like I said, it is now 2017, which means new year, new goals, a fresh wave of energy, AND THE LAUNCH OF GS READS!!! I have given this a lot of thought and am so excited to be launching Grey Suede's book club!

Although I am not a fan of New Years resolutions, I do try to set a a few thematic goals for myself and one of them this year is to read more books and to read more consistently so that it becomes part of my daily routine. My hope of GS Reads is to become a more meaningful reader myself and to engage with you guys here around books.

The plan is to read one book per month, have midway discussions, and a final discussion at the end of each read. I have chosen Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff as the first book and I am planning to check in with y'all on January 31st, so be sure to read part one, Fates, up to page 206 by then :)

Check out the book description below:

Fates and Furies is a literary masterpiece that defies expectation. A dazzling examination of a marriage, it is also a portrait of creative partnership written by one of the best writers of her generation.

Every story has two sides. Every relationship has two perspectives. And sometimes, it turns out, the key to a great marriage is not its truths but its secrets. At the core of this rich, expansive, layered novel, Lauren Groff presents the story of one such marriage over the course of twenty-four years.

At age twenty-two, Lotto and Mathilde are tall, glamorous, madly in love, and destined for greatness. A decade later, their marriage is still the envy of their friends, but with an electric thrill we understand that things are even more complicated and remarkable than they have seemed. With stunning revelations and multiple threads, and in prose that is vibrantly alive and original, Groff delivers a deeply satisfying novel about love, art, creativity, and power that is unlike anything that has come before it. Profound, surprising, propulsive, and emotionally riveting, it stirs both the mind and the heart.

P.S. let me know what books you think should be next!!!
