San Francisco at Sundown

Grey-Suede-Marin-Headlands 170414It has been such a rainy winter in California and I have been dying to capture a clear day sunset over San Francisco. Last Friday it was finally clear and I jumped at the opportunity to head to Marin Headlands and hopefully capture the sunset over the city.

Nathan and I headed out to find the perfect spot to capture sundown with a ticking clock as we raced down various trails to find just the spot. Finally I spotted a small group of people exactly where I wanted to be and so we went back to where we started to try to figure out how to get there.

Luckily we figured it out and made our way over. It is the perfect spot to look over the entire city, over to Oakland, and out to the Pacific Ocean. To get there you want to park at Hawk Hill and walk along the side of the one way road that goes downhill from the back of the parking area. You should see a small steep path to your left, be careful it is really slippery with small rocks but follow the path up to this little hill.

It was such a beautiful night, like one of those nights where San Francisco is beyond perfect. Those moments don't happen all the time but when they do I feel like I'm in a movie. It was sooo cold though! The wind was so strong I could feel myself being pushed a little and I was so afraid the wind would snatch my camera or tripod, could you imagine!?! Luckily all was safe.
