long bronde balayage hairI have been growing out my hair for the past year/year and a half with the goal of taking my hair from collarbone length to chest length mermaid hair. I am almost there, but boy has it taken work! I wish I could say that biotin supplements did the trick but I am terrible at taking a daily vitamin and as a result my biotin taking days were short lived. I think I made it one week straight once haha!

I have religiously used the following products to keep my hair strong and healthy as I grow it out.

1. AG Hair Keratin Repair Serum: First off I love AG hair products so I'm biased but I put two pumps in my hands and apply to damp hair after I get out of the shower. It leaves hair shiny and smooth while helping to mend split ends and keep hair elastic. The smell is not too strong and helps cut down on frizz as I let my hair air dry.

2. Pureology Strength Cure Superfood Treatment Mask: This mask is great for both color treated hair and natural hair color alike. I use it every Sunday to start my hair off strong for the week. Afterwards I notice an immediate difference, my hair is softer and feels stronger. It's 100% vegan too meaning it's filled with nutritious natural ingredients like olive oil and goji berry extract.
3. Innersense Pure Harmony Hair Bath: This is the newest product to my routine, since I have been using it for less than a year but from the first time I used this shampoo I loved it. If for no other reason the smell is so good. Like being at a spa! This sulfate free clean beauty shampoo cleans my hair while adding back moisture. I try to only wash my hair 2-3 times per week but if I had a particularly sweaty workout in between washes I will apply shampoo just at my hairline where I sweat the most and rinse well with water.

4. CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray: When growing out my hair I have made a serious commitment to minimizing heat tools that I use. Blowdryers, flat irons and curling wands do serious damage in just one use so if you are growing your hair out or just trying to keep your locks healthy, minimize the amount of heat tools you use and opt for air drying hair by showering at night and find styles that you can wear to work or out at night that you can do sans heat. But for those times you do use heat tools use a protection spray. I find most thermal guards make my hair sticky, heavy, or oily, but this one is light enough that it doesn't leave as much residue. It also provides a bit of hold I think.

5. Dove Advanced Hair Series Serum-In-Oil: I found that keeping my hair sleek and fizz free when not using hot styling tools was hard. This drugstore beauty find saved the day on so many occasions, and even stood up to humidity in Austin, TX in August. I will use this on dry or damp hair to add instant shine and reduce frizz. I love this product because it strengthens hair and works to repair split ends while still being a lightweight serum-in-oil.
